Travelling Tales

About The Project:

Travelling Tales is a storybook light art project which consists of four large scale storybooks. The books consist of four spines, one front cover and seven pages of tiles created through workshops within schools and community groups across Durham. The tiles for the current set of four books have been created across fourteen days with eighteen different groups inspired by real and imagined stories within Durham.

The concept was originally created after taking part in Light up the North’s Lightlab in 2023. Following this I developed the idea into a maquette with the help of Mick Stephenson, before being commissioned by Durham County Council to create the piece to full scale. Travelling Tales is touring County Durham from November 2024 (as one book), before touring as the full set of four books from February to the end of March 2025.
